There is something about Donkey Kong that always draws me in - I guess the nostalgia the image creates...

Reading through the DK article, I was surprised to see ANY console version of the game ever contained the elusive "cement factory" board. I remember having this level ONLY in a DK version I had for the C64 - but never knew a home console ever put it out. (although, do you really qualify the Atari XE as a game system? It really was just a dummed down 400 computer.)
I often wondered when Nintendo later released the Arcade Classics carts for the GB Advance, why they didn't include the little things in the "classic" that they couldn't do at the time. I would have gotten more mileage out of DK game if I could have had the extra cement factory board...

Hi Jay, Long time no see since the "Too Many Games" show over a year ago! Thank you for taking the time to comment on the article. Yeah that cement factory board was missed by most of the home console conversions. Atari 2600 and Intellivision owners obviously missed out on a little bit more but that didn't stop us from playing endless hours regardless if it being a bad version. As for Gameboy Advance owners not getting the elusive 4th board, it was probably because the arcade classic series you were referring to were just emulations of the original NES cartridges and not a conversion of the arcade game. I guess Nintendo only wanted Gameboy owners to experience the original NES experience complete with flaws. As for the Atari XE Game System (I believe you were referring to the console and not the Atari XE line of computers), yes I do consider the XEG a game console. It was actually an enhanced Atari 65XE computer and a step up in design and look over the Atari XE computer line in general. Video Game Trader magazine featured an article on the XEG ( http://www.videogametrader.com/current-and-past-issues/issue-7/) last July. Thanks again and wishing you all best! Have a great Memorial Day! Sincerely, Patrick Wong Reading through the DK article, I was surprised to see ANY console version of the game ever contained the elusive "cement factory" board.
