I just found out I am getting the new XBOX360 as a gift from my awesome employer!!!!
I will be getting it later today. I will attempt to transfer data via USB key to the new system and use the License Migration site on xbox.com to authorize my DLC, etc. I will comment on how smooth this process goes and try to take some pics of this sleek new item. I didn't plan on purchasing this quite yet, but I am so excited and appreciative to be receiving it.

Update: Just saw that the new XBOX will include a data xfer cable, very good news as many were already grumbling about having to purchase one to move their content. Of course, if you are trading in the xbox for the new one you can't do that, but if I were Gamestop I would offer FREE data transfers with purchase. Think they'd actually spring for that?

Gamestop actually accepts hard drives as an entirely separate item. I believe the company allows the trade in of the items toward the new system and then the person has seven days to transfer the data to their new system and give the old hard drive to the store to complete the transaction. |

That actually sounds fair and reasonable, Nes.
After unboxing the unit, I discover there is NOT a transfer cable included. I got mine from Amazon so I don't know if that made a difference or if it was a last minute decision by M$.
So, the process using a USB key is fairly simple and straightforward, however with more than 1.4 GB of data I had to copy some content, plug in the new xbox, copy to the new hard drive, plug in the old one again, and repeat. I can't imagine gamers that have gigs of data...they might need that cable. After recovering my gamertag on the new machine, no further setup was necessary.
The entire process for me took less than an hour, and with the transfer cable it probably takes minutes, so don't hesitate to get this because of data concerns, it seems M$ actually made something easy for once.
